The 2017-18 school year is going to be an exciting year of engaging learning activities and fun events at St. Mary's! There are four new teachers at St. Mary's this year. Ms. Cassie Snyder will teach one of the grade 4 classes, in place of Mrs. White, who is on maternity leave. Ms. Megan Hoddinott will teach grade 5, in place of Ms. Reeves, while she is on maternity leave. Ms. Erin Buchan, who filled in for Mrs. Hammond last year, will be the new grade 6 teacher. Ms. Bethany Porter will be the new physical education teacher, in place of Ms. Hammond, until she returns from her maternity leave. The Educational Assistants will remain the same this year, and another EA will be hired. Please see the complete staff list by clicking on the 'Staff Info' tab. We are also excited to have a student teacher starting the year with us, for an internship. Ms. Megan Tucker will be working with Ms. Brand in grade 3.
Citizenship, Inclusion and Celebrating Uniqueness are core values at St. Mary's. Our teachers and support staff work very hard to differentiate instruction and engage students in the learning process. Student successes are recognized and celebrated at St. Mary's. Our students take great pride in their school and are very welcoming to others! St. Mary's is very proud to be a PAX school! ALL students and staff strive for PEACE, PRODUCTIVITY, HEALTH and HAPPINESS.

Terry Fox Run 2017
Posted on September 18th, 2017
St. Mary's students and staff will participate in the Terry Fox Run(walk) on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 20. After a short video presentation in the gym, students will leave the school around 1:55 pm. The will walk west on River Road, Will turn up by FVSD central office, and complete the loop back to the bank. The older students who are running will do the loop a second time, while the others will head back to the school.
The purpose of this event is two-fold. First, we hope to raise money to donate to the Terry Fox Foundation for cancer research. We are hoping that every child who participates in the Terry Fox Run can bring a donation for Cancer Research. We would appreciate a toonie per student. The other purpose is to teach our students about the great Canadian hero, Terry Fox, so that future generations can carry on the torch for Terry.
Parents are welcome to join us for the walk!
If it rains, we will reschedule to another date, to be determined.
